Laurier's Bachelor of Music trains musicians of all interests, inspiring future performers, composers, theorists, educators, musicologists and alumni who pursue careers in law, medicine and business.

Program Highlights

The Penderecki String Quartet, one of the most celebrated chamber ensembles of its generation, has been in residence at Laurier since 1991.

Every year, Laurier’s QuartetFest brings together young artists and world-renowned performers from across Canada and abroad.

Opera Laurier puts on a production of excerpts in the fall and a full opera in the spring – popular shows that provide performing experience for vocalists and instrumentalists alike.

Top ranking Music graduates are guaranteed admission to Laurier’s Bachelor of Education (BEd) program, as long as they meet the minimum admission requirements for the BEd program.

Students must have completed an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent qualification. English language requirement: Internet-based testing (TOEFL iBT): an overall score of 83 or higher with a minimum score of 20 in each component; Paper-based testing: 560 overall, IELTS: An academic score of 6.5 or higher with a minimum of 6.0 in each band, PTE: 59 overall or higher, CAE: Overall score of 176. In acknowledgement of the various grading scales used throughout China, the grading scale on the transcript will be used. Grades are converted to reflect a 50% pass.
