This course gives you the education to take a leadership role in urban management, strategic planning and policy development.

If you are interested in a career in urban management and planning, the Bachelor of planning pathway to the Master of Urban Management and Planning is the course for you. This course gives you the professional and scholarly education to take a leadership role in urban management, strategic planning and policy development.

The Bachelor of Planning (Pathway to Master of Urban Management and Planning) degree is a four-year accredited program in urban and regional planning. The Bachelor degree will equip you with the range of specialist and generic skills needed for the workforce or for proceeding to advanced study.

The Geography and Urban Studies major and Master of Urban Management and Planning components cover the history, theory and method of geography and planning, as well as preparation for professional practice as a town planner.

The coursework includes preparation in professional practice, history and the theoretical and legal frameworks for planning. You will develop skills in a range of relevant areas including governance, urban finance and sustainable strategies.

The three-year Bachelor of Planning component of this program is offered at Parramatta and Penrith. The final year Master of Urban Management and Planning is only offered at Parramatta campus.

The degree incorporates a placement with local planning/urban management employers, working on a variety of planning tasks to ensure you graduate with an understanding of the planning/urban management workplace.

Students must have Australian Year 12 Higher School Certificate in or outside Australia; International Baccalaureate in Australia; New Zealand National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA), Level 3. English language requirements: IELTS (Academic version): 6.5 overall score, minimum 6.0 in each subtest; TOEFL internet-based score: Total score 82, Writing 21, Speaking 18, Reading 13, Listening 13; Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE): 58 overall; No communication skills less than 50; Successful completion of three years (Gao San) with a minimum score for entry to Second Tier universities in China from the National Entrance Examination (Gao Kao) cut off thresholds for Science and the relevant province, or successful completion of the first year of a Bachelor’s degree at a recognized university.
