Our Design and Technology degree delivers a sound knowledge of design from both a theoretical and a practical standpoint.

This course can lead to multiple career outcomes, including product design, packaging, rapid prototyping, 3D modelling, exhibition design and secondary school teaching (with additional qualifications). You will gain a comprehensive knowledge of all design areas, but also the flexibility to specialise.

Your practical experience is a combination of the University’s own state-of-the-art technologies and access to an extensive network of external industry-based resources where you will gain industry networks.

During your final year or at the conclusion of your study, you will undertake a 10-week industry experience session, giving you priceless real-life experience in developing new products within a company or organisational environment. Additionally, upon graduation you are eligible for membership to the Design Institute of Australia (DIA).

Course structure:

Visualization and Graphics: Study 2D and 3D visualizations and how to utilise them in a modern visual world.

Students will learn about the use of the computer programming in creative spaces. This is then applied in the study of the human-computer relationship.

Design Management: Use your leadership skills to enhance your studio management skills. This major covers sustainable design and how to create change through innovation.

Design-Led Innovation: Dive deep into marketing theory and gain skills in creating in a design led environment. Students will learn about human behaviour and how it applies to brand and product marketing.

Students must have Australian Year 12 Higher School Certificate in or outside Australia; International Baccalaureate in Australia; New Zealand National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA), Level 3. English language requirements: IELTS (Academic version): 6.5 overall score, minimum 6.0 in each subtest; TOEFL internet-based score: Total score 82, Writing 21, Speaking 18, Reading 13, Listening 13; Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE): 58 overall; No communication skills less than 50; Successful completion of three years (Gao San) with a minimum score for entry to Second Tier universities in China from the National Entrance Examination (Gao Kao) cut off thresholds for Science and the relevant province, or successful completion of the first year of a Bachelor’s degree at a recognized university.
