The mission of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing is to provide students the opportunity to further their education and increase their potential for career advancement in the nursing field. This program, designed to layer on top of an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree in Nursing, will provide students with the skills and knowledge required to become successful managers and leaders within public, private and non-profit organizations. The curriculum emphasizes current, evidence-based application and exposure to real-world nursing in areas such as nursing research, community health, healthcare policy and global communities at risk.

Potential Careers: Surgical Nurse; Pediatric Nurse; ICU Nurse; Obstetric and Gynecological Nurse; Hospice Nurse.

Program Outcomes: create a culture of safety and caring through the application of leadership concepts, skills, and decision making within complex organizational systems; synthesize evidence in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team to improve patient outcomes through the use of theory and research in daily practice; synthesize evidence in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team to improve patient outcomes through the use of theory and research in daily practice; demonstrate basic knowledge of healthcare policy, finance, and regulatory environments and the effect these factors have on planning and implementing patient care; use inter- and intra-professional communication to advocate for high quality patient care through collaborative skills and a unique nursing perspective; demonstrate an understanding of population-focused care by being able to identify health deficits and prioritizing disease prevention and health promotion interventions; demonstrate professional behaviors and role model inherent values as defined by the ANA Code of Ethics as a foundation of basic nursing theory in practice in the role of the BSN-prepared nurse.
