Biotechnology promises to become one of this century’s dominant technologies. Get ready to lead this industry with a one-of-a-kind degree from Waterloo.

In Biotechnology/Economics, you’ll immerse yourself in the science of biotech with labs and lectures in the Faculty of Science. You’ll complement that with courses in economics, business, and finance.

Starting in second year, you'll alternate 4-month school and co-op work terms. Over the course of your degree, you’ll acquire 20 months of paid work experience.

Once you graduate, put your skills and knowledge to work for pharmaceutical companies, brokerage houses, banks, government agencies, research firms, and more. With your unique blend of expertise, you’ll have all kinds of options!

By alternating school terms and paid co-op work terms throughout your degree, you can explore new career areas and types of employers as your career interests evolve.
