Explore the impacts of climate and weather

Broaden your knowledge of climate and weather with USQ’s Master of Science (Applied Climate Science). Focusing upon the impacts of climate variability on natural systems as well as human and socio-economic activities, this specialisation will develop your understanding of climate and how we adapt and manage variability on a regional and global level.

You will have the opportunity to decide between two different pathways of study in your masters degree:

Research Project track — the Research Project track equips you with research skills and allows you to develop a research thesis through a project in your chosen disciplinary application area.

Research Training track — the Research Training track allows you to develop your research capability and gain specialised cognitive and technical skills to prepare for a professional career in science.

Further study

Upon successful completion of the Master of Science (Applied Climate Science), you have the opportunity to move into PhD study.

As a graduate, you can follow career opportunities such as climatologist, climate scientist, climate policy analyst, environmental consultant, natural resources, biodiversity management, natural resource management or in private industry companies active in fields, such as agriculture, insurance, energy, weather information, water services and other industries.

Applicants must have Australian university three or four-year Bachelor degree in an approved discipline, or equivalent. English language requirements: IELTS (Academic only) score of 6.5 (or better)(no component lower than 6.0); TOEFL (paper based) score of 570 (with a minimum Test of Written English score TWE 5); TOEFL (electronic or computer based) score of 230 (with an essay rating of at least 5); TOEFL (internet based) score of 90 (or better) (with 20 minimum in all bands); Pearson (PTE Academic) score of 58 (or better) (with no communicative score less than 58); Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)/ C1 Advanced or Proficiency (CPE)/C2 Proficiency with a score of 176 or above. No less than 169 in each skill.
