This unique program offers a variety of courses, language and cultural experiences in French, and work placements (20 weeks) through which students will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to teach in modern French as a second language classroom. This program also offers students the opportunity to focus their studies at the primary / elementary (K-6) and intermediate / secondary (7-12) levels.

Students must successfully complete all courses in order to obtain a Bachelor of Education - French as a Second Language.

The Faculty of Education offers a program where each individual is mentored, monitored and supported. In addition, it provides an environment where each individual is encouraged to fully participate in the program and to take risks while being respected, valued and included. Also, students of the Faculty of Education are encouraged to think critically and creatively about the goals and practice of education both locally and globally.

The Bachelor of Education – French language second is a 12-month post-degree program consisting of 60 credit hours in Education with the program beginning in May of each year. This program is designed to provide the variety of courses and extended field experiences through which students can develop the knowledge and skills needed to teach in the modern classroom. It provides the opportunity for students to focus their studies in Primary / Elementary (grades K-6), or Intermediate / Senior (grades 7-12), and International, Indigenous, or Adult Education.

Specializations:

Students may complete specializations in International, Indigenous, or Adult Education by completing a six-week practicum in the specified area and one course beyond the 20 required for the BEd.
