Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment which takes place in the private, municipal and federal sectors.

Civil engineers work on solving many of the largest problems facing the world today. They plan, design and build infrastructure essential to a modern society. From highways and pipelines to water treatment plants and energy-efficient buildings, civil engineers develop sustainable, safe and environmentally appropriate answers to basic human needs.

The Civil Engineering program is available as a major as part of a four-year Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree.

The faculty of engineering at the University of New Brunswick has been preparing graduates for success in their engineering careers since 1854, when UNB was the first university in Canada to introduce an engineering program.

UNB Engineering graduates have gone on to help design and build bridges, make cleaner fuels and next-generation wireless communications tools. Researchers at the faculty are developing technologies used by Google and NASA.

Campus: Students may complete all 4 years of these Engineering programs in Fredericton, or may complete the first two years in Saint John and then transfer to Fredericton for the remainder of their program.

High school students applying to undergraduate programs at the University of New Brunswick. China: Senior Middle Two and Three results as well as a graduation certificate. Students may also be asked to report scores from the National College Entrance Examination grades of 70% or above. International students require the following English language proficiency minimum scores for direct entry into most academic programs: IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 85, CAEL 60, or Pearson Vue Test 59.
