The Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Lethbridge strives to prepare excellent Nursing graduates by fostering the development of innovative clinical decision making, diagnostic reasoning, interpersonal skills, leadership behaviours, and technical knowledge and skills.
Students who have an approved degree from a recognized university may choose to complete either the Bachelor of Nursing After Degree program or the 40-course Bachelor of Nursing program. The Nursing Education in Southwestern Alberta (NESA) program, Bachelor of Nursing After Degree, is a collaborative program offered by the University of Lethbridge and Lethbridge College. New applicants must apply directly to the University of Lethbridge. Newly admitted students will register in and attend courses at Lethbridge College for the first two semesters of the program. For the remaining semesters of the program, students will register in and attend courses at the University of Lethbridge.

24-Month Continuous Program:

The B.N. After Degree is a 24-month continuous program starting in September of each year. The 81-credit program will be offered over six consecutive semesters; students will attend from September to August and will be able to complete in a period of approximately 24 months. Appropriate breaks between and occasionally within semesters will be scheduled in order to provide time for vacation. Students will take two semesters of intensive introduction to nursing theory and practice at Lethbridge College before joining Nursing Education in Southwestern Alberta (NESA) students at the University of Lethbridge for their final four semesters. Successful completion of the program earns the student a Bachelor of Nursing (B.N.) degree. The program provides the essential background to write the Canadian licensure exam to become a Registered Nurse (RN).

Senior Secondary School Certificate of Graduation and an average grade of 72% or higher (where 60% is the passing grade). English Language Requirements: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) taken within the last two years, with minimum scores of: 550 on the paper-based TOEFL and 4.0 on the Test of Written English (TWE); or 80 on the internet-based TOEFL (iBT), with minimum scores of 16 in each of Listening, Reading, and Speaking, and a minimum score of 18 in Writing; Academic International English Languages Testing System (IELTS) test, taken within the last two years, with a minimum overall score of 6.0, and a minimum 6.0 in each band; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic score, taken within the last two years, with a minimum overall score of 54; Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Assessment, taken within the last two years, with a minimum overall score of 60, with a minimum 50 in each of Listening, Reading, and Speaking, and 60 in Writing; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE), with a minimum score of ‘C’; Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE), with a minimum score of at ‘C’; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB), with a minimum overall score of 80, with a minimum 76 in each component, including the Speaking test.
