The Child Development Integrated BS+MS program is designed as an accelerated four-year BS plus one-year MS program at La Verne. This track is designed for students planning administrative careers in early childhood education in public or private schools, and/or social service agencies. BS coursework focuses on studies of the growth and development of children, as well as administrative requirements in relation to the family, school, and community. MS coursework focuses on brain development, cognition, attachment, and research in Child Development. The Integrated B.S . + MS requires a 3.0 GPA (maintained throughout the program) a writing assessment, and a face-to-face interview with the program chair. Semester advising appointments are required throughout the first four years to monitor GPA and portfolio requirements. Students who do not progress according to the requirements of the accelerated program may be counseled into the traditional Child Development BS program. Upon successful completion of the third year of the Child Development Integrated BS+MS, students will interview with the Chair of the Child Development MS Program for authorization to advance to prerequisites for the MS portion of the program. Advancement will be determined by an interview, writing sample, current GPA, and recommendation from the BS program chair. All Child Development BS+MS students must obtain cleared fingerprints (Dept. of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the California Child Abuse Index) through the Fairplex Child Development Center.

Students must have completed high school. TOEFL - 80 iBT or higher; 550 pBT or higher; IELTS - 6.5 overall band score or higher, ELS - Satisfactory completion of ELS 112, Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) - Advanced score of 176 or higher, Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) - Score of 53 or higher.
