Children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) have the right to educational support that values and respects them as learners, and takes account of their individual requirements. Whether you want to work in special and inclusive education contexts, or progress your career in special education in a mainstream school, business or non-governmental organisation, this course could be for you. Why Special Educational Needs, Disabilities and Inclusion? * You'll examine how policy and legislation have contributed to our understanding of children and young people with SEND. * You'll investigate theories of development and learning, and consider how these can be used to underpin practice in supporting these learners. * While you're here, you'll learn from professionals with a wealth of experience in a range of educational and SEND contexts, and have the opportunity to reflect on how your learning can be applied to practice, with placements in different settings across the course. * Whether you are interesting in pursuing a career in teaching, support work, the charitable sector, within Local Authorities, early years, further education or many other possibilities, this course will equip you with the knowledge and practical experience you need. Additional costs:* Your placements could be in Huddersfield or surrounding areas, so please consider any travelling costs you may incur.* A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required to enable you to undertake placements in settings with children. We arrange this as part of the application process. Please note that there may be a charge for the DBS check.

A Levels in Chemistry and at least one further science subject from Biology, Maths or Physics. Chemistry A Level is essential. If you are not studying Biology, then Maths or Physics are accepted. The endorsement for practical work is an essential part of Science A Level study, and is a requirement for entry to our degree course.Offers are based on 3 A Level subjects in the region of ABB and are influenced by subjects being studied, predicted grades and performance at a selection day.
