Course Overview

The PG Certificate in Tourism Management is aimed at existing industry professionals seeking to optimise their career potential. Designed in consultation with regional and national businesses operating in a range of sectors across the tourism industry this programme gives you the opportunity to develop your operational and strategic knowledge and obtain a highly relevant qualification at post graduate level.

Running from January 2020 you will develop your depth of subject knowledge and management capabilities by studying 3 key areas including Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Destination Marketing, and Managing the Visitor Experience, all of which provide the foundation for success in any tourism related organisation.

Located at our Ambleside Campus, in the heart of the Lake District, and a UNESCO Heritage site, your learning experience is embedded into one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, providing insights into best practice and the opportunity to work with some of the most innovative and creative businesses in the region. Our strategic partnerships with Cumbria Tourist Board, the Lake District China Forum and the Lake District Hotels Association, alongside our wider national and international industry links provides you with access to the latest data and information impacting on the tourism industry in the region.

Course summary

As a programme of applied learning that is designed to allow you to work and study at the same time, the PG Certificate in Tourism Management provides you with flexible learning options that include online study materials and face-to-face-teaching offered in a 3 day block at our stunning Ambleside campus. All modules are delivered by our team of subject experts, all of whom have industry and academic expertise, providing you with the opportunity to discuss the most up to date challenges and issues confronting businesses operating in this dynamic and fast moving industry.

The three modules that make up the programme allow you to build your expertise as a manager and develop your creativity, problem solving, interpersonal and strategic thinking capabilities, ensuring that you can have a positive impact on any company you work for.

On completion of the PG Certificate you may then choose to progress to the PG Diploma or the full MBA also available at our Ambleside campus on a full or part-time basis.
