Mechatronics is the most wide-ranging of the engineering discipline and is applicable to industry, government, environment and society. The manufacturing industry plays a prominent role in Penang’s economy. For this industry to continue to flourish there is a need for more qualified and trained manpower to support automation to ensure the smooth running of the industry.

Mechatronics is considered 'modern mechanical engineering ‘, that it integrates mechanical system with electrical & electronics for better feedback and control into a complete system.

In industry 4.0, machines are and robot are connected for better operations, productivity, and reliability maintainability; supported by smart system. Mechatronics is the discipline contributes to industrial automation.

This dual award degree offers students an outstanding educational experience in which students not only receive a KDU Penang University College degree but also a UK degree award from the University of Lincoln.

Engineering may not be the easiest areas of study, but it is the subject areas that continue to be in demand, and the graduates are also more likely to find employment quickly and work their way up the career ladder with an engineering degree under their belt. Students must have a successful completion of STPM or equivalent. Year 1: IELTS Band 5.5 (with no component below 5.5); or TOEFL PBT (454) / IBT (44); or Cambridge English CAE (160); or Cambridge English CPE (180); or PTE Academic 43; or MUET Band 4. Year 2: KDU Diploma; or Recognized Diploma from other institutions (conducted in English).
