Whether your interests are in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or pharmacy, TWU can provide you with a program of courses and an educational experience, that will prepare you well.

In addition to the major programs, students may study in various pre-professional programs including:

Pre-Dentistry:

Our Pre-Dentistry program is a set of required courses needed for entry into dentistry schools across Canada. Normally, pre-dentistry students are required to complete three academic years toward a baccalaureate degree—which include courses in the humanities and social sciences—before applying to dentistry schools. Specific requirements for dental schools may also include biology, chemistry, math, English, and physics.

Specific requirements for many dental schools may include the following:

BIOL 113, 114 (or BIOL 103, 104, and 105); 384, 386

CHEM 111, 112 (or 103, 104; or 103, 112); 221, 222 ENGL 103, 104

MATH 123, 124 PHYS 111, 112

Students must have standing in five subjects of which at least two must be taken at the Advanced level. Students may be eligible for three semester hours of credit for each Advanced level course completed to a maximum of 12 semester hours provided that a minimum grade of C is achieved in that course. Departments will determine if credit awarded is general or course specific. The following equivalents will be considered: School Certificate: same as GCE with at least two passes at the principal level of the Higher School Certificate. Certificate of matriculation from recognized universities. International Baccalaureate with at least two subjects at the higher level. English Language Scores: (TOEFL) - Test of English Foreign Language Internet-Based Test: Overall Score: 88 with a minimum score of 21 in each of the four areas and a TWE of at least 5. (IELTS) - International English Language Testing System (Academic): Overall score: 6.5 with 6.0 on Writing Band. (CAEL) - Canadian Academic English Language Assessment: Overall score: 70.
