Torrens University Australia in collaboration with the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute offer a jointly badged Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program in translational clinical. The Baker Institute brings international status as a high-quality center with specialization in cardiovascular disease and diabetes and the opportunity for Torrens University HDR students to work intensively with experienced medical researchers.

International students must not enrol into any more than a third or 33% of online subjects over their course and must study at least one subject that is face to face in each trimester. All face to face courses is also available for online mode of delivery. Please note that due to COVID-19, authorities have provided assurance that exceptions will be made to the usual face-to-face learning requirements.

This innovative program is ideal for clinicians and health professionals and has been designed to form a solid foundation of coursework before research activity begins. The coursework will prepare you in research methods, research ethics, biostatistics, and other core competencies. It will also provide research and clinical placements relevant to your area of interest. This program is primarily, targeted at biomedical and medical researchers including clinicians and health professionals in both Australia and overseas. A unique aspect of the HDR programs is an online course component in the first six months specifically designed to strengthen capacity in clinical, ethics, design and conduct. In addition, students have an option of a one year clinical or industry placement to complement their research.
