This about "disability" and "ability" in new ways. Using the social model rather than the biomedial model, the problem becomes a lack of ramps rather than someone using a wheelchair. Disability Studies is an interdisciplinary program that balances theory, methods, and practice so that graduates will have both a broad education in the liberal arts and sciences, and a depth of study in the area of Disability Studies. The focus of the program is the critical analysis of disability in society which includes the study of disability as a social, scientific, cultural, historical, and political construction. This allows students to examine such topics as human rights, ethics and accountability, adaptive physical activity, sport and recreation, social movements, normalcy, eugenics, genetic engineering, family, sexuality, employment, socialization and development, aging, education, adaptive and universal design, international development, and gender issues.

Applicants will need to meet the admission requirements listed for the country where they completed the final year of high school. Requirements are listed by country on our website. If stated for the country, the applicant will also need submit an additional English test. Secondary School Credential: Senior High School Graduation Examination along with applicant’s ID Number and Report Number for verification with China Credentials Verification (CHESICC). Secondary School Grade: 70%. Post-Secondary Document Requirements: Transfer and Second Degree applicants are required to submit their transcript and graduation certificates, along with applicant’s ID Number and Report Number for verification with China Credentials Verification (CHESICC). University or College Transfer Grade: 70 – 79% or C. TOEFL: Minimum score of 86 with no less than 20 in each component, IELTS: Minimum band score of 6.5 on the academic module.
