If you're innovative, and you enjoy engineering and problem solving, Wood Products Processing could be for you. This award-winning degree fuses science, engineering, and business.

Gain a comprehensive understanding of wood science, business, and advanced manufacturing operations, while developing transferable skills in problem solving, communication, leadership, and teamwork.

After completing foundational courses in math, physics, and chemistry in first year, you’ll begin developing your knowledge of wood and material science and primary and secondary wood processing technologies. In senior years, you’ll learn how to analyze and optimize manufacturing operations. In your final year, you’ll focus on an area of interest with a major project.

Experiential learning and research

As a Wood Products Processing student, you’ll:

Enjoy access to UBC’s Centre for Advanced Wood Processing, a $2 million wood products manufacturing facility.

Gain hands-on experience at the faculty’s extensive machine laboratory.

Participate in a one-week tour of BC wood products manufacturing operations.

Complete a major project in your final year.

Campus features

UBC’s Vancouver campus is home to the award-winning Forest Sciences Centre and the Centre for Advanced Wood Processing, Canada’s national centre of excellence for wood products.

The Faculty of Forestry also has two major research forests in British Columbia, and jointly manages a third, altogether totalling 25,000 hectares or more than 60,000 acres.

Applicants must have Gaokao examinations results provided by CQV If you are not writing the Gaokao, you must submit one of the following standardized examination results: SAT, ACT, Advanced Placement exam results, A Levels, or International Baccalaureate Certificates. Equivalent Entry: Huikao or Academic proficiency test results provided by China Qualifications Verification (CQV). Other English language requirements: CAE(Certificate in Advanced English ): Minimum score of B; CAEL(Canadian Academic English Language assessment): Overall score of 70; TOEFL Paper-based test with the TWE (Test of Written English): ): Minimum score of 55 each for Reading, Listening, and Writing (4.0 on TWE); MELAB(Michigan English Language Assessment Battery with the MELAB Oral Interview): 85 final score with 3 in the speaking test; PTE(Pearson Test of English (Academic)): Overall score: 65, Reading: 60, Listening: 60, Writing: 60, Speaking: 60.
