Prepare for leadership and instructional careers in a variety of physical activity and sport settings in both public and private agencies. You'll cover topics such as adapted physical education, research methods in kinesiology, exercise prescription, and more.

The Social and Behavioural Sciences stream is an accredited program certified by the Canadian Colleges and Universities Physical Education and Kinesiologists Association (CCUPEKA). It also fulfils the UBC Faculty of Education’s admission requirements if you wish to pursue a school-based teaching career in physical education after completing your Bachelor of Kinesiology degree.

Experiential learning and research

The Kinesiology Co-op Program lets you earn work-study credits and gain practical knowledge related to your field through co-op placements with hospitals, physical rehabilitation centres, professional sports teams, schools, and more.

UBC’s School of Kinesiology is also home to 13 research laboratories, including the innovative Health and Integrative Physiology Laboratory, the Cardiovascular Physiology and Rehabilitation Laboratory, and the Human Neurophysiology Laboratory.

A Kinesiology degree opens up career opportunities in a wide range of fields, including education, fitness and recreation, sports management, medicine, physical therapy, and nutrition. Applicants must have Gaokao examinations results provided by CQV If you are not writing the Gaokao, you must submit one of the following standardized examination results: SAT, ACT, Advanced Placement exam results, A Levels, or International Baccalaureate Certificates. Equivalent Entry: Huikao or Academic proficiency test results provided by China Qualifications Verification (CQV). Other English language requirements: CAE(Certificate in Advanced English ): Minimum score of B; CAEL(Canadian Academic English Language assessment): Overall score of 70; TOEFL Paper-based test with the TWE (Test of Written English): ): Minimum score of 55 each for Reading, Listening, and Writing (4.0 on TWE); MELAB(Michigan English Language Assessment Battery with the MELAB Oral Interview): 85 final score with 3 in the speaking test; PTE(Pearson Test of English (Academic)): Overall score: 65, Reading: 60, Listening: 60, Writing: 60, Speaking: 60.
