You can complete both a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Criminology and Justice in just five years of full-time study through this combined degree program, offered by St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

In your first four years of study, you’ll complete requirements for the undergraduate degree in Psychology. You’ll learn the psychological, social and biological processes underlying normal and abnormal behavior, as well as how to think critically and integrate theory with research about behavior. In your third year, you’ll begin to take graduate courses in Criminology and Justice that will cover the traditional forms of street crime and newer forms of criminality, including terrorism, international drug trafficking, cyber-crime, multinational white-collar crime and international organized crime. You’ll learn both traditional theories and descriptions of crime, as well as modern interpretations and research methodologies.

Graduates of the Criminology and Justice program have pursued careers in a wide variety of areas related to crime and justice, including:

  • Department of Homeland Security
  • Drug Enforcement Administration
  • Social Security Administration
  • New York City Department of Investigations
  • New York City Department of Education
  • New York City Department of Juvenile Justice.
  • New York City Department of Mental Health
  • NYPD

The program also benefits research-oriented students, many of whom have continued their education in law school and in doctoral programs in criminology and related social sciences.
