Physical therapists, sometimes called PTs, are licensed health care professionals who assist patients to improve mobility and reduce pain. Physical therapists provide care in a variety of settings, including hospitals, private practice, outpatient clinics, home health agencies, schools, sports and fitness facilities, and nursing homes.

The pre-physical therapy program is a pre-professional curriculum whereby all the necessary prerequisites can be completed in preparation for applying to a school of physical therapy. All PT’s must earn a graduate degree from an accredited program. The department provides advising to assist each student in developing a plan best suited to his/her needs. Acceptance by physical therapy schools is on a competitive basis, therefore, a strong undergraduate academic record is essential. Students must declare an undergraduate major along with the Pre-Professional curriculum. Students must earn a bachelor’s degree, have a basic science background and complete a certain number of required courses before applying to a professional physical therapy program.

Freshmen student admission is based in part on the quality of the applicant's secondary school academic record and the number of places available. Applicants should have an above average academic record at least equivalent to a "B-" average (2.60 out of 4.00), or be in the top 60% of their class with suitable academic preparation for the intended major. English Language Requirements: Internet-based TOEFL Test (iBT): 61; Paper-based TOEFL Test (PBT): 500; Academic IELTS: 5.5.
