This program is offered in partnership with the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM). Application for admission to the program must be made to UTM through the Ontario Universities Application Centre. This program has a September start date.

This Theatre and Drama Studies degree is offered jointly with the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM).

Academic studies and performance training

Our program combines the intensive professional training of an acting school with the academic preparation of an honours-level drama degree. No other drama and theatre program in Canada offers a comparable education.

Gain on-stage experience

Students gain professional-calibre experience at the acclaimed Theatre Erindale, working in every capacity — from front-of-house to backstage production and on-stage performance. They are encouraged to pursue additional performance opportunities on campus and in the community.

Succeed in the dramatic arts

You'll attend both institutions simultaneously. At UTM, you'll take drama courses covering the history, theory, and literature of Western drama and film. Acting classes and theatre studies take place at Sheridan and feature small, intimate class sizes; and personalized acting instruction, with emphasis on voice, text, movement, scene study and improvisation.

By the end of this program, students will have demonstrated their knowledge of:

• The inner and outer resources of an actor.
• Their personal strengths, weaknesses and goals as a performer.
• The basis of the other crafts in the theatre.
• Dramatic literature of the major Western periods and genres.
• A variety of possible markets in Canada.

By the end of this program, students will have demonstrated the skills to:

• Create and maintain effective business and promotional documents.
• Prepare and present an appropriate audition.
• Contribute to a production fields other than acting.
• Conduct themselves with professionalism as a member of a company (including independent preparation, initiative, teamwork, cooperation, meeting or exceeding deadlines, punctuality, and the honouring of commitments.
• Apply a range of vocal, physical, analytical and emotional techniques to the discovery of a text in rehearsal.
