The Law and International Law course, pathway of the LLM Law programme from Robert Gordon University, is designed for those who want to gain advance knowledge in the area of private and public international law.

This pathway has been designed to incorporate flexibility both in the topics you cover and the way that you learn.

The LLM Law and International Law course examines current trends in global politics and adopts a theoretical and practical approach.

The focus is not limited to traditional issues of state to state interactions but also includes the effect of the international legal framework on natural and artificial persons.

What will study

This course involves the study of eight taught modules plus a dissertation on an International Commercial Law topic. Four subject related modules must be chosen in order to obtain an LLM Law and International Law degree.

If you do not hold an LLB degree of equivalent, you will be required to study the Legal Framework module.

Accreditation

Upon successful completion, in addition to their LLM, students can obtain exemption from Associate Membership or Full Membership of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (ACIArb/MCIArb) examination.

Students need to have of the following qualifications: a four-year Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised "211" or "985" university with an overall average of 65% (4 point scale 64-67% = C- and 5 point scale 60-74% = C). 70% is required from all other recognised universities in China. Students who hold a three-year college Diploma from a recognised institution will need to successfully complete a pre-masters programme in China or the UK to be considered for entry. A small number of University postgraduate programmes do require a minimum of second class upper classification, or an equivalent. Applicants with lower qualification and / or relevant work experience will be considered on a case by case basis. Students need to have an IELTS overall of 6.5 includes 5.5 in Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening.
