The public health program will allow you to pursue studies and research in personal and environmental health, the delivery of health services, wellness lifestyles, current health care systems, epidemiology, health administration, health education, and occupational health. Whether your interest is in management, public planning, health care, or disease prevention, you will be prepared to enter positions in business, government, education, nonprofit, and health organizations. A rich blend of courses, internships, and research opportunities, combined with an accessible, student-oriented faculty, will enable you to relate your analysis of health problems to actual practice in professional management, planning, and health careers.

The Rutgers School of Public Health offers highly-qualified undergraduate students the opportunity to begin graduate study during their undergraduate years, thereby accelerating the Master of Public Health degree by requiring approximately 3-5 additional semesters beyond the Bachelor’s degree. This is not a concurrent degree program. Students earn their Bachelor’s degree first and then the MPH.

MPH CURRICULUM

The MPH degree program requires 45 credit hours, comprising 15 credits of core courses, 9-18 credits of required concentration courses, 6-15 credits of electives and 6 credits of Practicum. The Bachelors/Master’s Program allows accepted BA/MPH or BS/MPH students to take up to 18 graduate credits of MPH courses at the Rutgers School of Public Health. These graduate credits MAY apply to both the undergraduate degree and the MPH degree, giving students advanced standing in the School of Public Health once students matriculate at the School of Public Health.

Other English Language Requirements: a TOEFL score of 550+ on the paper and pencil test; the minimum acceptable score is 82 in MELAB; the minimum acceptable score for the PTE is 53 system-wide.
