Graduates of this double degree may use their education skills to lead the development of digital products with an education focus. They may become trainers in industry, or they may use their IT qualifications to deepen their knowledge to teach technology, robotics or information management.

In the Bachelor of Education component students are prepared as teachers with specialist understandings for secondary school learners in two teaching and learning discipline areas, with one being technology, and the other being your choice of:

English
geography
history or
mathematics.

In the Information Technology component students complete a core foundation program. After completing the core units, students choose a major – either Computer Science or Information Systems. The course equips you with the knowledge and skills required to create IT solutions across diverse industries. You will experience an innovative, hands-on approach to learning, through projects developing IT systems.

Real-world learning

The program includes substantial professional experience connected to on-campus learning. QUT organises professional experience placements to give you the opportunity to work in real school classrooms, supervised by practising professional educators.

This double degree will equip you to lead the development of technology solutions in the education sector.

Graduates of education will have a solid foundation of knowledge to teach in secondary schools. Your career will be guided by, but not limited to, your chosen teaching areas. Your qualification can also allow you to work in other locations in Australia and overseas.

In the Bachelor of Education component you will learn to innovate and incorporate digital technologies in your teaching. You will be equipped with entrepreneurial thinking and leadership skills and develop the resilience and creative capabilities to adapt to ongoing workforce changes and future opportunities
