Fashion and apparel design and production combines the creative expression of apparel and accessory design with the precision of apparel manufacturing within the US and internationally.

The fashion and apparel design and production curriculum at OSU integrates the principles of design, the skill development of production technologies and the business of the global fashion industry. Our program prepares students on current trends, financial strategies, fabric selection and sketching. Students develop expertise in pattern making, computer-aided design, 3D design, garment construction and more.

Career paths

There are many pathways an apparel design and production major can take: Menswear and womenswear; Bridal; Footwear and accessories; Patternmaking; Textile design; Military & law enforcement uniform design; Ergonomics.

Highlights

Internships

Students gain valuable work experience during a required professional internship prior to graduation. A pre-internship course equips students with job-search skills.

Global learning

Students may participate in an annual trip to New York which includes industry and alumni events and interviews at prospective internship sites. Each summer, faculty-led study abroad experiences in locations like London, Paris and Spain are offered for course credit.

Euphoria Fashion Show

Students showcase their designs and gain hands-on experience through the annual Euphoria Fashion Show.
