Teaching science to secondary school students engages your imagination as you create learning experiences for your students. Your specialty subjects would be Biology and Human Biology. The course also teaches the skills needed to teach lower school science, including Chemistry, Physics and Earth and Space.

You will learn how to work in a range of teaching environments, through lectures, science labs, tutorials and a range of practical placements. It is a virtual classroom using actors and avatars – and the only technology of its kind in WA.

Your future career

This course gives you the qualification you need to teach secondary students, including teaching biology and human biology to Year 11 and 12 ATAR students. You will also need to have a second teaching area, giving you greater employment opportunities.

Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Overall 6.0 with no band below 6.0; Test of English as a Foreign Language - IBT (TOEFL IBT) - 73 with no band less than 18; Test of English as a Foreign Language - Paper Based (TOEFL - Paper Based) - 534 (Test of Written English not less than 4.5); Cambridge Advanced English prior 52 with no section less than Borderline; Cambridge Advanced English after 169 overall with no band below 169; Occupational English Test (OET) - OET with a minimum of C in the four components; Pearson Test of English (PTE) 50 with no band below 50.
