The University Entrance option is designed for students who have applied to, or intend to apply to, one of Mount Royal’s baccalaureate degree programs but lack specific admission requirements or do not meet the competitive admission average for the program.

Students in the university entrance option will register primarily in post-secondary courses but are permitted to enroll in high-school equivalency courses in order to meet admission requirements of their intended degree program.

Admission to the University Entrance option does not guarantee subsequent admission to a Mount Royal degree program.

The University Entrance option provides learning opportunities for students who wish to: participate in post-secondary education, and plan to pursue a university degree, but lack specific admission requirements; enhance their admissibility for a Mount Royal degree program through completion of post-secondary coursework and/or high-school equivalency courses; take courses that are required for the completion of a Mount Royal degree while improving their qualifications for degree-level study.

Students can complete a maximum of 30 credits (10 courses) as a University Entrance student. Students are strongly encouraged to consult with an academic advisor before they reach this credit limit to ensure they are taking the appropriate courses.

You will be considered a high school applicant if you meet the following criteria: you are in your final year of high school, or you have left or completed high school, and you have completed fewer than eight post-secondary courses. English Language Score: Academic English (Level 3 Advanced) taken at Mount Royal Level 3 Advanced with B- (80%); TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) 86 (min. 20 in each of four sections); IELTS (International English Language Test [Academic]) 6.5 (min. 5.5 on each band); CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language Assessment) 70 (min. 60 in each band); MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery) 85 (min. 3 in oral component); PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) 58 (min. 55 in each area); CAE (Cambridge English: Assessment) C1 or C2 Certificate Awarded (Pass at Grade C with min. 180 overall) and CanTEST (Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees) 4.5 overall minimum.
