The BSc (Hons) Business Accounting with Foundation Year offers an accessible route into an accountancy-based degree programme at the same time as offering significant professional exemption on graduation. The programme offers you the opportunity to gain both a solid grounding in accountancy at the same time as being able to gain additional understanding of other business functions.

The Foundation Year is designed to be a launchpad for assisting your further studies and to boost your knowledge and skills, so you are up-to-speed and ready to meet the challenges of the main degree (Year Two - Year Four). This year is also ideal for those who have perhaps been out of study for a while or need to gain more confidence in their own abilities.

Teaching and assessment

All learning and teaching take place in seminar sized groups with a range of learning opportunities including formal lectures, seminars, guest speakers and online videos - prequels and sequels, fortnightly roundups. The fortnightly roundups are one hour online live chat sessions with your module tutor on MyLearning. These are open to all students on the module.

Careers and further study

There are many career options open to graduates of this programme in the field of accounting and finance within business. These include, for example, project management, business analysis, taxation, back office finance positions and corporate finance.

The programme also currently benefits from some exemptions from various accounting bodies, but this is not the focus of the programme.

For students who complete the BSc (Hons) Business Accounting with Foundation Year programme, you may apply to any one of the accountancy bodies below for exemptions as it is accredited by:
