The main focus is to provide leadership skills required for the promotion of a healthy and physically active lifestyle with focus on counselling in physical fitness, nutritional awareness, stress management, environmental sensitivity and health oriented self discipline. This program took the leadership role in developing the health promotion Without Borders program that allows students to gain experiential learning in countries abroad and study international issues...students gain academic credit for their experiences and to date have volunteered with medics to Africa in Kenya, same World, same chance in Zambia, Howard Hospital in Zimbabwe, Mongolia, Costa Rica and Ecuador. All health promotion graduates will demonstrate a mastery of physical and health education, public health and health education knowledge and skills, including community health education program planning, implementation and evaluation, theories and application of health behaviour change, assessment including intervention and evaluation, community organizations, environmental and mental health, international health and aboriginal health and wellness.

Learn the skills required for health promotion, health sciences, and teaching, with the ability to minor in the arts or sciences.

Study abroad and gain an understanding of international health issues with the Health Promotion Without Borders program.

This program’s innovative curriculum uses a well-rounded approach and hands-on experience to give you the skills needed to work in various areas of health promotion, including:

public health
physical and health education
research and evaluation
international, environmental, and mental health
aboriginal health and wellness

All secondary school applicants must successfully complete six Grade 12 4U/M courses and receive the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Applicants who have completed the International Baccalaureate are eligible for admission provided they have achieved a minimum score of 24 and have fulfilled the diploma requirements (six subjects, minimum three at the higher level). Applicants who have achieved a score of 28 or greater may receive transfer credits for higher level courses with grades of 5 or higher. English Language Requirements: Internet-based TOEFL (iBT) - Test Of English as a Foreign Language: 88 overall; Computer-based TOEFL (CBT) - Test Of English as a Foreign Language: 230 overall; IELTS Academic - International English Language Testing System: 6.5 overall No band lower than 6.0; Cambridge Assessment English: C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency with a Cambridge Score of 176 or more; CAEL - Canadian Academic English Language Assessment: 70 overall No part below 60; Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees - CanTEST: 4.5 overall No part below 4; PTE Academic - Pearson Test of English: 60 overall.
