The program in Music offers a low student/teacher ratio that allows for personal attention, development and growth, nurtured by a dedicated faculty.

It may be taken concurrently with a Bachelor of Education. There are many opportunities to participate in ensembles and other performance activities such as the Laurentian Concert Series, Laurentian University Choir, Laurentian Concert Band, Laurentian Jazz Combo, Sudbury Jazz Festival, and Sudbury Symphony Orchestra, among others. Preparatory courses in performance and theory are available.

There are opportunities to study conducting and methods for various instruments. The major in Music Studies does not require an audition.

All secondary school applicants must successfully complete six Grade 12 4U/M courses and receive the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Applicants who have completed the International Baccalaureate are eligible for admission provided they have achieved a minimum score of 24 and have fulfilled the diploma requirements (six subjects, minimum three at the higher level). Applicants who have achieved a score of 28 or greater may receive transfer credits for higher level courses with grades of 5 or higher. English Language Requirements: Internet-based TOEFL (iBT) - Test Of English as a Foreign Language: 88 overall; Computer-based TOEFL (CBT) - Test Of English as a Foreign Language: 230 overall; IELTS Academic - International English Language Testing System: 6.5 overall No band lower than 6.0; Cambridge Assessment English: C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency with a Cambridge Score of 176 or more; CAEL - Canadian Academic English Language Assessment: 70 overall No part below 60; Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees - CanTEST: 4.5 overall No part below 4; PTE Academic - Pearson Test of English: 60 overall.
