Our Advanced Minimum Intervention Dentistry MSc (AMID) provides a beneficial clinical and business approach to tooth-preserving oral health management in dental practice. Our course is designed for dentists and Dental Care Professionals to develop minimum intervention preventive and tooth-preserving operative, patient management and practice management skills. The course will give you the tools to maximise both the clinical effectiveness and financial potential of your dental practice. Course detail

We have designed this course in response to the dental profession’s push towards a minimum intervention, preventive patient-centred approach to caring for oral healthcare in dental practice all over the world. Our Advanced Minimum Intervention Dentistry course, open to dentists and therapists, provides the latest evidence-based knowledge in minimum intervention/minimally invasive dentistry and enables students to integrate this patient care philosophy into their dental practice. There is focus on using the team of dental care professionals to assist in delivery, on suitable marketing strategies and on learning practice-based research methodology. You will study and practice the latest minimally invasive remineralising and tooth preserving operative technologies, and adhesive restorative materials and techniques, to prevent, manage and treat dental disease aesthetically and effectively.

Course format and assessment

This course is primarily taught through King’s College London’s online learning environment, KEATS, which provides information, interactive questions, assignments, use of bibliographic databases and reading material. Our students participate in online tutorials and discussion groups, interacting with expert tutors and their fellow students. Face-to-face lectures and hands-on training take place in blocks in the first two years. Students are required to undertake and build a reflective log of clinical work in their own general practice. Your performance will be assessed through a combination of coursework, practical exercise and written examinations. Forms of assessment may typically include written assignments and clinical case reports. Coursework contributes approximately 40% and examinations approximately 60% to your final mark in your first and second year with the exception of Operative Dentistry – Clinical Skills which is assessed through a practical exercise and accompanying written paper. Your final-year modules will be assessed through a clinical case portfolio and a dissertation.
