Overview

Translational Cancer Medicine enables you to gain detailed knowledge and understanding of research methods applied to rational drug design, clinical study design, molecular and cell biology, tumour immunology, genetics and cancer imaging. You'll gain practical experience through two six-month laboratory rotations.

Course detail

The Translational Cancer Medicine MRes study pathway offers unique opportunities for you to join experienced research teams and work on particular projects from the outset. This course will allow you to develop an in-depth understanding of research methods, and of how theoretical academic studies and skills relate to research projects. You will explore Fundamentals of Translational Cancer Medicine, in both laboratory projects and lectures, providing you with advanced knowledge and skills to conceptualise, design, conduct and critically appraise specialist research.

Teaching and assessment

We will use a delivery method that will ensure students have a rich, exciting experience from the start. Face to face teaching will be complemented and supported with innovative technology so that students also experience elements of digital learning and assessment. Your performance will be assessed through a combination of coursework and written/practical examinations. Written forms of assessment include an essay, dissertation and scientific write up. There will also be a Presentation and Viva exercise. Coursework contributes to 100% of your final mark.
