Students can pursue Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Molecular Biosciences or Biomedical Sciences for up to the first two years of the degree programme. Successful students can transfer to partner universities in Australia, New Zealand or the United Kingdom to complete the degree.

It is noteworthy that a number of the collaboration universities are consistently ranked among the top 200 universities world-wide by The Times Higher Education. On the QS World University Rankings are the University of Adelaide, University of New South Wales, University of Queensland, University of Southampton and Newcastle University.

In Year 1, students take up the core basic sciences in Chemistry and Molecular and Cell Biology, supported by courses in Mathematics, Management, and Computing. In Year 2, they proceed to "cornerstone" courses in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Genetics, Microbiology, and Immunology. This programme places a high priority on laboratory work, where students gain extensive hands-on experience with state-of-the-art equipment. Students of the programme will be well prepared by the time they transfer to overseas universities.
