Programme Aims

The aim of this double-degree programme is to equip students with a comprehensive and practical understanding of Chinese medicine. The ultimate goal is to train a new generation of Chinese medicine practitioners with the ability to integrate modern science and technology with Chinese medicine principles on a scientific basis for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

Programme Details

This is a 6-year full-time double degree programme, with 16-month internship training, and an Honours Project. The curriculum of the programme encompasses extensive courses in Chinese medicine as well as courses in biomedical and clinical Western medicine, in an approximate ration of 7:3.

Instructors in this programme use diversified teaching tools and activities, including multimedia teaching aids, case study, group discussion, and laboratory practice, medicinal herb field trips, and hospital visits to achieve outcome-based teaching and learning. To uphold the spirit of “Whole Person Education” as advocated by the University, 38 credits courses in general education are included in the new curriculum.

Honors Project

This is a 6-unit Honors Project and the aim is to provide students with first hand experience on scientific research. Students may choose a topic from a wide variety of areas, ranging from laboratory experience, clinical investigation, systematic review and literature review of Chinese medicine.

English Language Requirements : TOEFL- Internet-based test (iBT) - Score: 79; or Paper-based test (PBT) - Score: 550; IELTS Academic: Overall Band: 6.0. Grade C or above in GCE O-Level/ GCSE/ IGCSE English; or Grade E or above in GCE AS Level or AL Level English; Grade E or above in HKALE Use of English (AS Use of English); IB - Grade 4 in: IB English A (Higher or Standard Level); or IB English B (Higher Level); or IB English Literature and Performance (Standard Level) or Grade 5 in: IB English B (Standard Level).
