Develop the knowledge and skills to practise responsibly and reflectively as a professional social worker.

The Master of Social Work is a coursework program designed to provide higher degree coursework and meets the standards set by the Australian Association of Social Workers.

The course is available via graduate entry or qualified social worker entry.

What you will study

The program teaches you to research, analyse and articulate a framework for inclusive and ethical professional social work practice. You will develop the skills to identify the cultural context of various approaches and their relevance to specific situations and populations, and to delineate the connections between interpersonal practice, social policy and research. Topics cover areas such as social work with diverse populations, complexities in work with children and families, mental health through the life course, and trauma and resilience.

Graduates can go on to secure positions in a variety of settings within a framework of relevant legislation and procedures, supporting individuals, families, and groups within the community.

Applicants must normally hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution. IELTS (Academic): 6.0 Overall with 6.0 Speaking, 6.0 Writing; TOEFL (Internet): 72 Overall with 18 Speaking, 18 Writing; Pearson PTE Academic: 50 Overall with 50 Speaking, 50 Writing; Cambridge (CAE): Pass grade of B2; Occupational English Test (OET): 300 Writing, 300 Speaking, 300 Reading, 300 Listening.
