The postgraduate education program is intended for people currently employed in education, special education or education management, and for those who have an interest in developing their knowledge and practice in these areas. It introduces knowledge and skills in your area of interest, with a focus on understanding and changing practice.

Masters offers quality research training and an introduction to traditions of thought and analysis in educational policy and practice. It gives advanced insights into theoretical and practical matters in education to improve professional decision making.

Program of Study

To qualify for the Master of Education without a named specialisation, a student must complete 72 units, including approved credit, with a grade of P or NGP or better.

What you will study

Students undertaking the graduate certificate may select their own program of study by enrolling in any combination of topics offered in the following specialisations: cognitive psychology and educational practice, gifted education, higher education, international baccalaureate middle years program (IBMYP), languages education, leadership and management, special education, wellbeing and positive mental health.

Masters students complete an in-depth coursework program consisting of topics selected from the following specialisations: cognitive psychology and educational practice, educational research, evaluation and assessment, gifted education, higher education, international baccalaureate, languages education, leadership and management, special education, wellbeing and positive mental health.

Your career

The courses are designed to meet the increasing demand for professional development of current teachers and other professionals. They are not designed to be an initial preparation for teaching and do not lead to teacher registration. Graduates are suitable for careers in a variety of positions ranging from work as teachers in school classrooms, school coordinators and principals, curriculum and policy advisers in departments of education, and as advisers to government and other policy makers.
