What is accounting?

Accounting is the process of keeping, reporting and analysing financial records. Accountants are responsible for measuring a company or organisation’s financial health, providing timely statements on budgets, business transactions and tax returns to stakeholders. They are also responsible for monitoring an organisation’s financial operations and performance in order to help it run efficiently.

About the course

Our three-year specialist accounting degree covers theoretical and practical accounting concepts to prepare you for your future career. Subjects cover a range of topics, including the legal, ethical, management and strategic aspects of accounting.

This course is also offered at Charles Sturt’s campuses in Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Port Macquarie and Wagga Wagga.

What will you study?

You will need to complete 24 subjects in order to graduate with a Bachelor of Accounting degree. This is program comprises:

18 core subjects

6 unrestricted electives or electives for Joint Study.

Industry recognition

The Bachelor of Accounting is accredited by CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. After completion of the degree, you will be eligible to apply for membership of professional bodies CPA Australia and Chartered Accountant Australia and New Zealand.
