The Master of Arts degree in Education is designed to provide knowledge and skills for individuals required to function effectively in various positions of educational leadership. This is not a certification program for educators, as it presumes the individual is already trained and qualified in the technical aspects of her or his field.

The MA degree in Education program requires the student to complete a core of 9 semester hours, which includes an integrating experience (Capstone Project, Field Study, or Thesis). An additional 21-25 semester hours must then be completed with specific courses determined by the academic advisor. All candidates for the MA must complete a minimum of 30-34 semester hours.

This program is only available in Ontario.

Prospective students are responsible for satisfying themselves that the program and the degree will be appropriate for their needs (e.g. acceptable to potential employers, professional licensing bodies or other educational institutions).

Courses are taught at select Ontario colleges in eight-week terms. Many courses offer the convenience and flexibility of a combination of face-to-face and online formats.

• Administration/Student Affairs
  Graduates become deans, presidents and vice presidents, college administrators, program chairs and various positions dealing with student and staff development, labor relations, leadership and program measurement.
• College Teaching
  Students strengthen their curriculum and writing skills, integrate technology in their classrooms, evaluate and measure program relevance and effectiveness, and explore research and teaching methods.
• Training and Development
  Graduates are from the military, business, healthcare or non-profits and are leaders in designing curriculum, needs analysis and aligning human capital with the goals and visions of an organization.
