Overview

Our Biomedical, Biomechanics and Bioelectronics Engineering MSc degree focuses on advancing and updating your knowledge in biomechanics, biofluid mechanics and bioelectronics.

You will also receive a dynamic learning experience as you delve into medical imaging technology and artificial intelligence in image processing as part of this unique postgraduate engineering programme.

The aim of this specialist course is to create master’s qualified biomedical engineers who can help in the design, development, operation and research of complex medical devices for the modern biomedical and healthcare industry.

Teaching is delivered by enthusiastic world-leading biomedical research experts, and enhanced by clinical professionals who are part of our extensive network of industry and hospital collaborative partners. With our strong industry links, some projects are provided by hospital consultants and are based on solving practical biomedical problems and challenges.

You will have access to fully equipped laboratories, with excellent biomedical engineering research facilities. In the computer lab, you’ll have the opportunity to develop hands-on skills using modern computer software to solve problems relevant to biomedical issues.

Your biomedical engineering postgraduate degree from Brunel will provide you with the acquired skills that are essential to the modern biomedical and healthcare industry. You’ll also have the expertise required to enter into product innovation, development and research.

Some of our graduates have taken on roles such as R&D engineer, biomedical specialist in intensive care monitoring and ventilation, product safety associate and engineer laboratory technician. Others have used the accumulated knowledge and skills taught in the course to join other industries, and indeed some have gone on to carry out PhD research.

As a guideline and depending on the programme you apply for, we require the following grades from a recognised Chinese institution: A UK 2:1 (Second Class Upper) which is equivalent to a bachelor degree with a minimum score of 75% - 80%; A UK 2:2 (Second Class Lower) which is equivalent to a bachelor degree with a minimum score of 70% - 75%. Grades may vary depending upon the course chosen. In general, our courses ask for an English level of between IELTS 6.0 and 7.0 or equivalent. Some courses will have higher requirements (and will require you to also reach minimum sub-scores).
