Our commerce course is designed to meet the emerging demands of business and the broader community, so grasp the opportunity to develop your business skills through practical teaching and join a learning community that provides support to help you achieve your career aspirations and succeed in the business world.

You'll be exposed to realistic business problems and environments through a qualification that's also designed to be relevant to the national and global marketplace, a must have when starting out your career. Offering courses at both degree and associate degree levels, your studies will focus on developing your skills in key areas such as:

• accounting (including auditing and taxation)
• finance
• management
• marketing
• business ethics
• law
• economics
• communications
• international business (subject to the number of students enrolled)

Classes are timetabled on weekdays during the day and are delivered face-to-face.

In your final year you'll complete a 6-7 week (3 days per week) workplace internship, from which you'll deliver and present a critical business project.

Pathways & Accreditation

After successful completion, you may apply for entrance to post-graduate studies at a range of universities.

The Bachelor of Commerce (Applied) is accredited by CPA Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants. Undergraduates may apply for student membership of these professional accounting bodies, which they can convert to associate membership on graduation. You can then choose to undertake the professional body's qualification program, and after 3-years relevant practical experience progress to full membership.

This course is accredited by the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) and the qualification is aligned with the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) level 7 and Box Hill Institute Graduate Attributes

Career & Learning Outcomes

After completion, you may choose to apply for roles such as accountant, financial advisor or economist.

Graduates will have:

• a broad and coherent body of knowledge, with depth in the underlying principles and concepts in one or more disciplines as a basis for independent lifelong learning
• cognitive skills to review critically, analyse, consolidate and synthesise knowledge
• cognitive and technical skills to demonstrate a broad understanding of knowledge with depth in some areas

Course Structure

You are required to complete 23 subjects (144 points). There are 16 core subjects (102 points) and 7 elective subjects (42 points) depends on your major stream (Accounting, Global Business & Digital Marketing).
