Course Overview

This course has been designed specifically for mature students who have been out of full-time education for at least one year do not have the relevant qualifications for entry to higher education.

You will attend college four days a week between 9.30 and 3.30.

You will be assigned a personal tutor who will support you with your UCAS application and personal development. Your learning is further supported by Google Classrooms where all resources, assignments are uploaded for you to use.

The computer science element of the course will focus on Programming and Networking as well as IT Systems support. This will give you a solid platform to progress onto university to study a BSc in Computing or a HND (or equivalent) at BCOT.

This course will share lessons with other BTEC courses run in the college. Specialist units will be taught by our Access team.

Course Content

The computer science element of the course will focus on Programming and Networking as well as IT Systems support. This will give you a solid platform to progress onto university to study a BSc in Computing or a HND (or equivalent) at BCOT.

The course will share common units, such as study skills and science, with other departments such as Access to Health and Applied Sciences.

Assessment

You will be assessed through the completion of a range of assignments and projects; there are no formal exams for this course.

This course is designed to get you to University and is worth between 48 and 144 UCAS points (for September entry), depending on the grade you achieve.
