To become a solicitor, you need the practical knowledge and commercial awareness to succeed in practice. We focus on the skills and the knowledge you need to secure a training contract. Incorporating all elements of the LPC and taught at Master’s degree level, learning on the LLM Legal Practice (Solicitors) is built around simulated client portfolios to build the legal skills that employers and recruiters are looking for. You will learn from qualified lawyers who can help to shape your career, with links to firms and in-house teams at every level. The LLM Legal Practice (Solicitors) will help you to develop the in-depth legal knowledge, commercial awareness and practical skills that employers are seeking.

How you will learn

To ensure you get the most from your LLM Legal Practice (Solicitors), we teach in small groups delivered by experienced tutors who are also qualified lawyers. We believe in offering a high level of tutor-student interaction - throughout your studies you will have the support of a dedicated personal tutor and opportunities to sign up for one-to-one mentoring. Students are taught through a combination of online resources and live workshops (face-to-face or online for distance learners). Workshops are delivered in-centre and taught in small groups of no more than 20 students, to provide you with a high level of student/tutor contact time.

The majority of your teaching for the Practice-Ready modules and the Law Review and Reform module will be through live or on-demand online tutorials or lectures supplemented by your own independent private study. Your tutors will also be there to offer constructive advice and guidance while you develop your critical thinking and self-reliance when undertaking these modules. You will be required to undertake independent private study for all modules on the LLM Legal Practice (Solicitors). From the start of the course we will support you in developing the ability to study autonomously, and to reflect on areas of learning and/or practice to improve on your performance over time.
