In this course you’ll develop your unique personality as a musical theatre performer, focussing on your vocal, acting and dancing and developing additional skills in areas of interest such as songwriting, second instrument studies and arts management. You’ll create and deliver major performance works, from concept to professional realisation.

You will study through a combination of specialised one-on-one tutoring and coaching and group master classes, actively engaging in individual and collaborative performances, culminating in regular concerts, showcases and musical productions. You will learn theoretical and technical skills in all aspects of creative musicianship to support you as you progress. You will hone your skills through a vast array of elective choices, helping to define your industry readiness.

At the conclusion of the course you will have expert knowledge of contemporary music theatre practice. You will be able to communicate effectively as a contemporary performer and demonstrate initiative in a variety of contexts.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Major Study: Develop Practical skills & performance techniques across singing, acting, dancing and creating. Units such as: Major Study (1-6) and Performance Studies (1-6)

Scholarship: Get a grip on music theory and history, and learn to contextualise and critique in your chosen areas of interest. Units such as Music Materials and Techniques 1 and 2, Critical Studies and Aural training.

Ensemble: Develop the art of group singing, culminating each year in a major AIM musical.

Associated Studies and Electives: Sharpen your focus or explore more to hone your skills.
